Zachary Coates, 25 Years Old Hiker, last seen about 1pm, still missing in Mount Smuts, Kananaskis

25 year old hiker, Zachary Coates, is missing from Mount Smuts, Kananaskis, Alberta. He was last seen approximately about 1:00 pm local time on Sunday, August 11, 2024.

His family mentioned that Zachary Coates went hiking alone at Mount Smuts. He hasn’t been in trace since then. His phone goes straight to voicemail. His friends and family have been praying for his safe return.

Numerous search operations, including helicopter and motorcycle searches as well as emergency services in Kananaskis, are actively looking for him. Thousands of people have shared his missing post on social media. In addition, the Calgary Police have been actively looking for him. 

Zachary Coates’ Body is Expected To Be Found As per His Mother

Additionally, according to accounts, his grey Toyota Tacoma pickup was parked at the Mount Smuts Trailhead. It had a number plate number 2321 on it and a bicycle rack with a green, black or blue bicycle connected. He had on a white helmet, a harness, a rope, a headlamp, and other hiking equipment before going missing.

Tina Butler, Zachary Coates’s mother, has recently disclosed the news regarding his sudden missing. She also mentioned that her ex-husband’s fiancée called to tell her that a body had been found. However they were not sure whether the body belonged to her son or not. 

Many are also expressing sympathy to Zachary’s family and friends, claiming that he tragically died after falling while scaling the mountain. His family has not officially confirmed his passing, though.

Zachary, 25 year old, worked as a facilities engineer for Cenovus Energy in Paradise, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, prior to going missing in the Mount Smuts area.

• Zachary Coates completed graduation from Memorial University in Newfoundland and Labrador with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. 
• He was employed by engineering firms such as J.D., Irving Limited, Canadian Natural Resources Limited, and Nalcor Energy. 
• Jackson was one of his two sibling siblings, and he shared a home with his mother Tina Butler. There is no information known about his father.
