No Relation between Daniel Day-Lewis And C.S. Lewis Despite Their similar Last Name

Admirers guess that popular English retired actor, Daniel Day-Lewis are closely related because they shared similar last name. However, they aren’t correlated.

People often misunderstand that popular an award-winning actor Daniel Day-Lewis, is the son of Clive Staples Lewis. Daniel is a famous name in movie history.

Throughout the majority of the early 1980s, he staggered between theatre and film during his four-decade career. He started his acting profession in 1971. in 1997 the actor decided to go back to his old pastime of woodworking and got a semi-retired situation. He later made a comeback to the acting profession in 2000

Daniel confirmed his retirement in 2017. He was honoured with knighthood in 2014 for his lifetime contribution to the movie and theatre.

He earned his educational degree in English literature at both Magdalen College and Magdalene College.  J. R. R. Tolkien and C.S. were close friends and active members of the Oxford literary community known as the Inklings.

Daniel Day-Lewis And C.S. Lewis –Not Related

C.S. and Daniel Day-Lewis were not connected by blood. Daniel’s father and C.S. Lewis battled for the esteemed Oxford Professorship of Poetry. Daniel’s father, Cecil Day-Lewis,  received 194 votes to C.S. Lewis’s 173 in the tangled final ballot.

Daniel Day-Lewis, 67 was born in London on April 29, 1957. Daniel Michael Blake Day-Lewis was raised alongside Tamasin Day-Lewis, a cooking critic and television chef.

Jill was of Jewish descent; her family left Latvia and Poland in the late 1800s. They were settled in England.  Furthermore, Sir Michael Balcon, Jill’s father, was the head of Ealing Studios.

The famous BAFTA is offered for every year in honor of Balcon’s memory for his excellence to British Cinema is presented. Daniel’s mother passed away in 2009. His father also passed away in 1972 from pancreatic cancer.  

His father was a solicitor, and his grandfather, Richard Lewis, immigrated to Ireland from Wales in the middle of the 19th century. 

Similarly, John Staples and Bishop Hugh Hamilton’s granddaughter was his mother. Clive was baptised in St. Mark’s Church by Thomas Hamilton, Florence’s father, a Church of Ireland priest. 

Warren Hamilton Lewis, Clive’s older brother, passed away on April 9, 1973. It has been observed that the two brothers are buried in the same tomb at Holy Trinity Church in Headington, Oxford.
